Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna reburied in St Petersburg

On September 28, 2006, Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna was laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Czar Alexander III at the SS Peter and Paul Cathedral in Saint Petersburg.

The imposing memorial service at the Isaac Cathedral, officiated by Patriarch Alexis II of all Russias, was followed by the reburial ceremony at the SS Peter and Paul Cathedral.

Present were most members of the Imperial Romanov family as well as their both close and distant relatives who had arrived to Saint Petersburg from all over the world to take part in the ceremonies.

H M Queen Margrethe II of Denmark was represented by TT HH Crown Prince and Crown Princess Frederik of Denmark.

Prince Nicholas, Head of the Romanov family, Prince Michael, senior direct male descendant of the late Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna, numerous members of their families as well as close relatives, had arrived from three continents to take part in the solemn reburial ceremonies of the Empress in Copenhagen and St Petersburg.
H M Queen Margrethe II of Denmark was represented in St Petersburg by Crown Prince and Crown Princess Frederik of Denmark, H M Queen Elisabeth II of Great Britain was represented by Prince and Princess Michael of Kent.
